Web Based Training:

Sector Governance in Urban Sanitation

September 29 - November 30, 2008

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) InWEnt Capacity Building International, Germany in cooperation with the World Bank Institute (WBI/WB Water Anchor) are organizing an elearning training course on sector governance in urban sanitation.

 

Target group:
Applications from decision makers from the local government sector as well as from local institutions or non-governmental organisations are appreciated.

 

Gender equity:
We strongly encourage female colleagues to apply for participance.

 

Objectives:
Enhancing the capacity of local decision-makers to make the most efficient, effective and equitable use of investments in sanitation.

 

Elements and characteristics of the e-learning course:
Web course with mainly asynchronous study-work, online forum and online moderated expert chats.

 

Duration:
36 - 40 hours during 8 weeks (September 29 - November 30, 2008)

 

Language:
English

 

Required means for joining the course:
Internet access (at least 5h/week), computer equipment with modern browser, PDF Reader, Java activated.

 

Requirements for getting a certificate:
Active participation in forum and chats and passing the multiple choice tests.

 

Content, Exercises and Case studies in the following three modules:

  •   General Introduction of the urban sanitation sector
  •   Legal and institutional framework of urban sanitation
  •   Economics, pricing and financing of the sanitation sector
